Adobe For Pc Vs Mac

The long-time debate between PC and Mac partisans over which platform performs better reached an interesting impasse this week when long-time Apple partner Adobe published a document on its Web site supporting claims that the PC is indeed faster. I have been an avid Mac user since college, it was what I was trained on. But I am looking into learning how to use Photoshop and the Adobe Suite at a.

I have a few comments in regards to this because I build PCs regularly. It isn’t conclusive that: ” Even if you leave out some stuff in your PC build to save money, the time and stress it takes to do it makes the effort equal to a Mac. Therefore, both offer an equal value proposition, budget-wise.” This is obviously up to the person. In regards to this comment: “The fastest gun in the world can maybe put together a machine in a day.” I built my very first PC in a few hours. It took longer as I built more, in fact, because I pursued more complicated endeavors such as water cooling, post-build over clocking, etc.

Judging products strictly on price is a sticky proposition. Sure, the lowest price is a compelling selling point, but value (aka bang for the buck) is just as important. Due to the sheer volume of their market, PCs are nearly always less expensive than similarly configured Macs. While Apple's bundled iLife suite usually goes a long way to helping it in the value stakes, Dell's aggressive software bundle negates this advantage.

Not many people see the whole programming of Windows. They aren’t trusted. Apple, on the other hand, has a much different workflow and that is one of the reason’s you don’t see many viruses on the Mac. Viruses need to see a vulnerability in the programming, thus, there are more problems with Windows.

I have gone from handset and linotype to Friden, Varityper, Stripprinter, to ITEK to finally computer. Our foray in the digital world started in 1994. Very little was PC then. Our budget made part of the decision for us.

Won’t do you any good to have loads of RAM and a SSD drive if you don’t have a decent CPU. Get the best one you can afford, but upgrade the other things listed previous to the CPU first.I have been an AMD processor fan for many years, just like I love to cheer on the underdog in sports.

However their is a new trend in smaller developers creating designed-focused apps exclusively for the Mac. Whether any of these apps will really take off is anyone’s guess, but Adobe’s move to a subscription model has certainly opened the door to competition. And these developers may decide to release versions for other platforms later and that would make the whole argument mute. I am very happy that I have been a loyal and sometimes snobbish Mac user since about 1990. I suffered through the dark 90s, not knowing if Apple would survive.

My point about a smaller initial investment applies to the majority of photographers out there who are not trained enough to act as technical support for their computer. PC desktops can last as long as a Mac, but my experience with PC laptops has been dreadful. They just haven’t held up for me, which is understandable with how tight the market is and how little margin the PC manufacturers are making from them. So, over time, if a person doesn’t have the skills to do their own tech support, or the skills to upgrade the computer component by component, they may be buying another PC (especially a laptop) faster than they would a Mac.

If so, let me take you through a few questions you probably have. Doesn’t Adobe Software Run Better on Mac?

I am in love with it, and will never go back. Premiere, PhotoShop, and After Effects is amazing when worked together. A lot of big budget movies were rendered using Adobe. Not taking away from Final Cut Pro, but if you can afford something crazy liek that (Titan X in SLI?!?!?) then go for it. It would be a better investment than an Apple machine. Not to mention, it will be truly yours.

Apple's choices appear to come down to an IBM advance on the Power PC platform called the Power PC 970 or possibly moving to an Intel-based architecture. Whatever the company chooses, it needs to move quickly; Apple's market share continues to erode. The company's high-profile Switch campaign has proven ineffective, and changing platforms is always risky.

I started out with an Apple IIe many, many years ago! I stuck with Mac at home though eventually I had to use the PC with Unix and then DOS. When I got my degree in Graphic Design, I had a PC but quickly moved back to Mac for three reasons. First, virus protection.

One drive is primarily used as a scratch disk and “extra memory” for programs that require it, such as Photoshop. I don’t have any SSDs installed, and frankly don’t feel the need for them with my graphics work, but I am sure that would bump up the speed as well. And there is that option. You can network external raids and do with a Mac what you can with a Windows PC in that respect. I’ve not used the latest Mac Pro (cone) but am sure it has that ability as well. And with the Lightening connection you mentioned, speed should be optimal.

I am currently a PC user but have been going back and forth to switching and now that I have been using the iMac at my school it has really sold me to make the switch. I am a beginner Photographer and I also do some videos for a realtor with a photographer I have been working with. I would appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Thank you again great article. @Dezarea, So glad you enjoyed the article.

Earlier this year in May I did a post called “” It was a post that was meant to really ask the question that as a photographer would you benefit from the faster and more expensive Mac Pro over say a nicely equipped iMac (or in my case MacBook Pro)? There was only one problem with that post.

It's worth noting Microsoft's too. While it has been officially stripped out of Windows and usually requires the user to download it, Dell has bundled it here (as many other vendors have too). The combination of the new Movie Maker and Photo Gallery for Windows Vista and 7 is a clear attempt to battle Apple's iLife suite, while separating it out of the OS avoids annoying the EU. Apple, on the other hand, includes its entertainment and productivity software with the laptop. At the time of writing, our MacBook Pro 13 came preloaded with the excellent Mac.

VERY big difference between an excellent gaming card and an excellent graphics designing card and yet another which is optimized for doing 3D work. Yes, you can find a great card that can handle all 3, but depending on what is more important, I would find the card that is optimized for your what you do the most. As a Windows techy, I haven’t found an Antivirus software that doesn’t cause some sort of problem. I have had the privilege to use and support a great number of different software for viruses. An example, a top rated Antivirus company writes their software to use up to 50% of your RAM. You add more RAM and their software uses more, thus not allowing your RAM and processor to focus on your project. If you think about it, the antivirus has to constantly read through your files and has usually got to run against a database of “definitions” for the virus.

As anyone who has ever been an avid gamer will tell you, Asus is solid when it comes to hardware and visuals. The two primary machines I use each and every day are my Asus laptop and my iMac desktop.

Now for you PC users. You are probably hearing constantly about doing photo editing on Mac. You may be seriously tempted to get a Mac just because you hear so much about it from the photography community. Maybe you are curious about if it really is better than the PC. You may want to give it a try and determine for yourself, especially if it is time to invest in a new computer, but if things are going fine for you with editing your photos on a PC then my recommendation is to stick with what you know. Why put a kink in your workflow and go away from what you know?

I’m glad that PCs have sought to compete with Macs to be relevant and useful to the creative communities. In some aspects, as this article points out, PCs may even exceed. But I still see the Mac workspace as the creative industry leader and standard, in part because I’ve worked on Macs since the mid 80’s, and have never had a compelling reason to switch. Then again, I prefer several flavors of Mac OS to operate my perfect graphic design workflow: 1. A sparkling new Mac with Yosemite to use the wonderful new QuarkXpress 2015 at peak performance, as well as Adobe CC; and 2. An iMac running Snow Leopard to keep my trusty Macromedia Freehand up and running.

Here’s another question.I have CS5 on a laptop. I started with an old version of Photoshop, upgraded a few times and I just upgraded from CS2 to CS5. I now want to get a desktop system and put CS5 on that.

The HP Compaq 8710w was $3561. Adding the Adobe image and video editing software brings it to $3661.

So you could get an iMac and a MacBook Air for less than a Mac Pro and monitor, which would be better in my opinion. Conclusion A PC user doesn’t have to switch to a Mac in order to have a good experience editing photos. I think it makes a lot of sense for a photographer to stick with what they know. At some point it may make sense to go to Mac from PC, especially if you are a professional photographer, but it is really a matter of personal preference and neither has a big advantage over the other. Just make sure you have enough hardware for the job in whichever you choose. OK, so now let me have it in the comments below 🙂. @Mary, Thanks for contributing to the discussion!

As I know,(which is not so much,)is that I will go for making a desktop more.because like what you said with editing with professional cameras,uh.you will have some though time with mac book pro.if you want to go for mac pro or iMac,then why don't just go and build a desktop for your self? DIY Desktop is really simple, and saving slot of money.there us so many options of buying them.you can go to web and buy DIY PC that people made, you can build your own one,you can have crazy amount of options.so there you go,this is actually what I think is the best. And about the programs,I recommend you adobe.for you,as you wrote, that you are already using adobe,so why not continue?adobe can give you slot of cool things, spend grade, magic bullet looks, lut, all those things, and you are good at it already.

AMD has often had a better price to performance ratio over Intel, but when it comes to running photo editing software there is no question the software is heavily optimized for Intel processors. Photoshop and Lightroom will still run on AMD, you won’t have a problem launching the application, but I think it is worth the money to go with Intel.I also recommend at least a Core i3 processor.
