Microsoft Arc Touch For Mac
By • 6:05 am, August 20, 2010 • I’ve long been mystified by both Apple and Microsoft’s inability to put together a useable mouse. Consider my experiences with each company’s showcase mice. On the one hand, Microsoft’s Arc Mouse was a pleasant-to-use and attractive foldable travel mouse, which — like every wireless Microsoft mouse I’ve tried — mysteriously gave up the ghost and experienced catastrophic hardware failure within the first couple of months. On the other hand, Apple’s Magic Mouse is a reliable piece of kit, but it’s ergonomically terrible and nearly unusable for things like gaming. If only these two mice could come together somehow. Unfortunately, what I want is the hardware reliability of Apple and the conventional feature set of Microsoft’s mice, not the other way around.
This app provides configuration settings for Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse and Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition. Note: This app is designed for Windows 10. The Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition ($69.99) is sold as an accessory for the company's Surface line. Clad in the same 'dark titanium' (which as far as I can tell is a fancy word for.
Microsoft Arc Mouse features a slim, smooth, unobtrusive design that’s easy on the eyes and fits beautifully within your workspace. From scroll plane to tail, the Arc Mouse is soft to the touch and meticulously crafted to sit comfortably in your hand. The gray Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse from Microsoft is a unique mouse that features a flexible design. Rather than a button to turn it on and off, you simply curve to turn it on and flatten to turn it off. This design allows you to pack the mouse while traveling and provides a comfortable curve that fits in your hand while working.
Microsoft Arc
Doesn't require a wireless dongle. • Cons Somewhat pricey. No horizontal scrolling.
Clad in the same 'dark titanium' (which as far as I can tell is a fancy word for black) as Microsoft's convertible tablets, this stylish, compact, portable is a worthy companion for any Surface tablet. I'll let you in on a secret, though: It works just as well with most other Bluetooth-enabled computers.
• Warranty: 3 years. • Part #: RVF-00052. • Windows Certification Kit (WCK): ID:1735433 (32-bit) and (64-bit) Windows 10. • Price: $ 59.95. Miscellanea • The Arc Touch Mouse is a great departure in design and technology. It’s the first portable mouse with variable geometry.
Do you have any idea to solve the problem? I don't think it's a question to Microsoft.
• Mouse dimensions (flat): 5.12 x 2.25 x 0.57 inches. • Mouse dimensions (curved): 4.37 x 2.32 x 1.44 inches. • Mouse weight: 2.29 ounces. • Mouse batteries: 2 AAA alkaline batteries (included).
But I've read there's an easy technical fix for it if you don't like it. I plan to purchase a personal Surface tablet in the future and I will definitely purchase the Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse to go with it.
AFTERWARDS I paired under MacOS, which also worked. (Last time I did it the other way round). The Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse and the Logitech M535 used to be paired with my old Macbook Pro Retina before I sold it. However, the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse is brand new. Well, after all this frustration I could call myself happy now, but I wonder if the quality of the Win10 Broadcom Bluetooth driver for the new Macbook Pro Touchbar currently meets common standards. I would say no - back to the drawing board Apple and Broadcom and come up with something proper!
Everything else will probably give you the basic mouse stuff, without the programmable Intellipoint enhancements and extra button shortcuts etc. I have a Trackball that, via Intellipoint, can be set to do different things with the buttons etc. And this on a Mac without Intellipoint becomes a basic mouse. I am assuming that it would be the same for any of the Microsoft mice.
It works — that much can be said. Is it worth it? It contributes a bit to the flatness and uninterrupted lines of the mouse, and actually, the few gestures you can do with it are handy and reprogrammable. So yes, it’s a nice addition, and I hope to see more of it. The built-in haptic response feels kind of weird to me, but if you want to be sure you’re going up or down a certain number of “ticks,” it’s indispensable.

The Cons are for trying to use with Lenovo Yoga. Rated 5 out of 5 by Surface Pro4 User from Best Bang for the Buck! I bought this mouse to complement the new Surface Pro4. Based on the usage over the last 2 weeks, here are my observations: 1) The ergonomics of this mouse are perfect. 2) Syncing with Surface Pro4 is super easy. 3) Working with the mouse is a breeze. 4) Once you are done with it (for the time being), you just flatten it and it automatically switches off and then you can store it easily In summary, this Super Sleek Bluetooth Mouse works just as advertised.

I don't think it's a question to Microsoft. You may see the specs. The mouse is meant to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.10.
I use it at work with the Surface Pro 2 to take meeting notes. It's lightweight and portable so it can go from conference room to conference room with ease. AND there's no dongle to take the USB port space. Although some say they don't like the 'sound' while scrolling it doesn't bother me.
This will easily fit in any pocket that can accommodate its length, which when flattened is about five inches. Compare to other portable mice, which won’t fit into flat pockets but are significantly shorter. It’s also a unique and interesting looking mouse, so kudos to Microsoft for that. People will ask you what it is and how it works if you display it prominently, so if you like that kind of attention, this is a good addition to your stable of eye-grabbing devices. Although it’s petite-looking, it feels quite sturdy. The rear part of the mouse seems to be a sort of satin-finish rubber, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to crack any time soon.
I prefer larger mice for use at a fixed location, but this model is fine for portable use. It offers the same design, functionality, and connectivity as the recently announced, which will come in slate gray and is marketed as a general-purpose Bluetooth device. Choosing between the two may come down simply to aesthetics, with the Surface Edition matching the Microsoft Surface tablet's color scheme, and the Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth a better match for gray or silver laptops.
Well, after all this frustration I could call myself happy now, but I wonder if the quality of the Win10 Broadcom Bluetooth driver for the new Macbook Pro Touchbar currently meets common standards. I would say no - back to the drawing board Apple and Broadcom and come up with something proper! I chose a radical approach. I properly unpaired all three bluetooth mice that I have under MacOS. Then I wiped MacOS and Windows 10 from the SSD. I did a network system recovery for my Macbook Pro with touchbar installing MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 first.
Some people detest Bluetooth mice and keyboards due to signal interference that can cause noticeable lag on some PCs. I did not notice that issue with the Surface Pro or Surface Laptop, but I am sympathetic to the complaint. Still, the convenience of 'click and go' and no wires using the Surface Arc Mouse is desirable. The Surface Arc Mouse also feels less precise than a wired mouse, and sometimes I felt I had to re-click to enable an action. Surface Arc Mouse review: Concluding thoughts The Surface Arc Mouse is likely the best travel mouse you can get if you want the most compact, no-fuss setup. The design and colors are outstanding, the build quality is fantastic, and it's just a very cool device.
• Wheel Vertical Scrolling Life: equivalent to 100,000,000 revolutions. • Tail Mechanism Life: 40,000 cycles.

It works great from the looks of it and the tail mechanism is claimed to live through 40,000 cycles, but that also means that the mouse will be always active while curved and drain your batteries in no time. • A fault determined by the revolutionary design is the balance. Using this mouse takes some learning especially when it comes to pressing the buttons. Press the button too heavy and the mouse will fall on its side. Also, people with wide palms and big fingers can find this mouse too narrow. • Another great feature is the touch strip with a haptic engine beneath, that stands in for a good old scroll wheel. The vibration is to imitate the physical contact with the wheel.
Then I installed the latest Windows 10 Pro 1703 using Bootcamp. The first pairing process was performed under Windows 10, and look - it worked.
Short version: An interesting little gadget, but practicality seems to have given way to design a bit more than is necessary. Features: • Unique bending design goes flat for easy transport • Bluetrack sensor tracks on nearly every surface • Tiny wireless USB receiver • Touch-sensitive trackpad area • MSRP: $79.99 Pros: • Unique and interesting design • Trackpad thing works most of the time • Extremely compact Cons: • Tiny contact areas make mouse movements less than smooth • Gripping mouse is an acquired skill • Far too small for those with larger than average hands Full review: Everyone on the internet was whipped into a frenzy by Microsoft’s surprisingly effective viral marketing for this thing. Of course, there was almost no way for us to put the pieces together, so to speak, since a weird flat mouse like this is pretty much unprecedented. Is it worth the money? Well, the Arc Touch Mouse is a series of serious strengths and weaknesses, all proceeding from key design decisions. They knew what they were getting into here, so there aren’t design flaws exactly, but rather design consequences. Design First of all, the mouse really is very compact.

You may see the specs. The mouse is meant to be compatible with Mac OS X 10.10. It was compatible with El Capitan (10.11), but it won't stay connected with Sierra (10.12) if you re-paired or initially connected the mouse with that OS. If you pair your mouse in El Capitan and then upgrade to Sierra then your mouse will restore connection and will function as it should (unless you re-pair it in Sierra). So the question should be addressed not to Microsoft but to Apple, I think. Something has got broken in Sierra. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The design is an improvement over the original Arc Touch Mouse SE - it's smoother, cleaner looking, and more elegant. I think the overall experience is above average, but I'm not ready to give up my Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse SE. I find its performance and ergonomics are just better. The good news is that mouse is still available, and I may pick up another since mine is getting long in the tooth.
Your best bet would be to wait for bwana or Droid or one of the Mac gurus to confirm or correct. I am no Mac-head, so I can only assume that ALL Intellipoint functionality will be present on those versions.

There are right- and left-click abilities as expected, but there is unfortunately no gesture support, which would have been a killer feature. The Arc Mouse is smooth and lacks the tackier grip of the all-black Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse SE. There is still the soft-touch rubber in the bendable tail, but it is more muted this time with a silkier feel. The Surface Arc Mouse looks fantastic, has no creaks, and feels substantial, but it is also extremely light and portable. It accurately matches the look and feel of the Surface PC line. Surface Arc Mouse: What's different? Microsoft ditched the scroll strip from the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse SE.
• Software: Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.8. • Mouse tracking system: Microsoft-proprietary BlueTrack Technology. • Imaging Rate: Dynamically adaptable to 1200 frames per second. • Resolution: 1000 ppi. • Tracking speed: 30 inches per second. • Scroll wheel: No.
The Microsoft Arc touch mouse has software for Mac OS X, but they say it is only for 10.4-10.7. I am testing it on 10.10 right now.

The strip life is equivalent to 100,000,000 revolutions which is a whale more any conventional mouse can endure. • The Arc Touch Mouse wants a USB dongle to be paired with the PC. As the mouse is promoted as the portable device and an extra little part is easy to forget and loose, Microsoft engineers have foreseen the magnet in the tail. Turn your mouse over and you’ll see a special logo marking the magnet area. It will hold the dongle in place when in travel. • The Arc Touch Mouse design suggests that the there’s some space between the optical sensor and the surface, that’s why the mouse features the most precision tracking technology of all – the BlueTrack Technology that also allows it to work smoothly on any surface, glass and carpet including.

• Disable smooth scroll mode. • Touch Strip – turn down or disable vibration/sound (Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse SE).
The right and left click buttons are also more discernable on the original, whereas the Surface Arc Mouse is one big button with left and right pressure points. To be fair, you can get used to the new Surface Arc Mouse. Also, by removing that haptic strip, Microsoft can now include horizontal scrolling, which is significant.
