Yes, it's more labor intensive logging into each individual bank's web site and downloading transactions for each individual account, but it's still possible.•. Folks, After reading everything on Quicken's website about version 2018,I guessing Quicken 2017 will stop working at some point, What I mean is, they will no longer allow you to down load transaction from banks, credit cards and investments. In 2018 they said you will always have access to your data even if you do not renew, however, you will loose access to any and all the online features like transaction downloading even getting stock quotes, nothing will work if you do not pay each year. Also the mobile sync App will not work.
Do people pay monthly for a monthly magazine? Nope, they pay yearly, and it's called a magazine subscription. If you buy a standard application, you can use it in perpetuity (as long as your system runs).

The transfer account is odd. That seems like more effort for Quicken than to just do a direct transfer between 2 accounts? I don't use reconcile much since I reconcile with almost daily downloads. I'm wondering if 2017 cleaned up the dividends issue. I guess I could try it and find out, but would love to hear if someone who came over in the 2017 version has similar issues. It doesn't seem to, since when I double click to see the itemization the numbers don't match. But as I said, Quicken for Windows (and Moneydance which I also tried) didn't give sensible numbers here either.
I have used several of the previous Quicken for Mac software’s, and none compare to the 2007 version, and earlier, and hardly compare to the Windows version, that is in the stores today. Anyone reading the authors review, should take note, that even under the new ownership, quicken has shown very little concerned for it’s Mac customers. One quicken customer service rep suggested that if I wanted those features, so much, I should use the Windows version on my Mac. That in a nutshell tells you what quicken customer service, can do for the Mac user. Smayer97 @Lostinram not sure why you have been unable to use Quicken for Mac for 9 years.
This is VERY helpful. Automatic ash balances on dividends - what I'm referring to is brokerage accounts not only tracking equity but cash as well. When dividends are paid, it just adds to the cash portion of the brokerage account, there is no separate cash account created in Quicken that would require transferring in and out as dividends are paid or when the brokerage gets funded or cash withdrawn. Downloading from the brokerage updates all this information, in one account, automatically. This is how it works for me now. Reading your comment, it sounded like a second cash account is added, then you need to manually transfer cash to buy a equity and vice versa.
Returns and Refunds All Quicken products have an unconditional 60-day money back satisfaction guarantee. You can return Quicken for any reason within 60 days and receive a full refund of the purchase price not including shipping and handling fees. To request a refund please read this and follow instructions carefully. In my experience support reads from the same FAQs that are posted on the web and are of no use. Their suggestions are ridiculous such as to re-enter tens of thousands of transactions manually.
I know the value was always correct and have no idea how this discrepancy took place and how it self corrected. Ditto why the other 2 accounts were not impacted. Anyone else experience this? Are you missing or have you entered a few too many stock splits? Does your account register reconcile to the brokerage?
I haven't seen enough innovation between versions to truly justify an upgrade; I always upgraded hoping it would be more reliable, more stable, faster, etc. But feature wise I can't think of all that much new in 2017 from 2016, aside from making my wallet a bit lighter. I suspect they too aren't seeing the upgrades they would like, so they are switching to a subscription to try to ease that out. Additionally, what's with the way better pricing if you go to a physical store?
Moneyspire doesn’t store your accounts in the Cloud, doesn’t require you to upgrade regularly or subscribe like Quicken and you can download it onto your Mac. Even better, at the moment, compared to the normal price of $49.99 which is definitely a good deal for a desktop personal finance software for Mac on this level. You can import QIF files from Quicken and likewise, export your accounts to QIF if you move back to Quicken at a later date. Moneyspire supports online bill payments though via both and its own service both of which are free to use.

So one man’s “disaster” is another man’s functioning as advertised financial app I suppose? Certainly Quicken 2017 is not the be all, end all of banking apps but it isn’t the piece of crap you describe either. You are the rare bird here, not sflocal. I too stopped trying to use Quicken after the last version, it just isn't stable.

But what I did not realize was that my purchase of this software would last for only a year. If I had known that, I never would have purchased Quicken 2017 in the first place. For me to pay, essentially, $4/mo for this feature, is too much.
Two player strategy for mac osx. Does Mac Have Fun Strategy Games? Yes, seriously, it really does have fun strategy games. We are not in 2008 anymore and the major game developers have started to port or convert their games over to Apple’s OS X in huge numbers.

You can connect to banking institutions via Direct Connect which will automatically download transactions and import data from others. This is easy to setup and use in SEE Finance and pretty reliable at syncing and updating account. Note however that SEE Finance 2 does not support Bill Pay. More recently there’s now an for iPhone and iPad that syncs with the Mac version via iCloud. It also works with OFX Direct Connection downloads if your bank supports it. SEE Finance 2 is a massive improvement on the first version and remains a fast, reliable and slick app to manage your finances on Mac. Note that is still available in the Mac App Store but we strongly recommend using instead as it’s far more modern, includes an iOS app and is more likely to be supported by the developer in the future.

Don't know what you mean by 'automatic cash balances on dividends.' Click to expand.Quicken for Windows has a hard time with stock splits and often throws off my shares. For some reason it doesn't always pull the shares cleanly from the brokerage. Good point on the transfer account. I don't rely too much on the income calculations, but I do look at the expenses.
Denise Barnes In the old PC version of Quicken that I had, there was a calendar that showed all my upcoming bills and deposits day by day and the projected balance for each day as I went along. When I switched to a Mac (which I love), the quicken product did not give me any such calendar at all. I returned the product and bought MoneyDance. Although MoneyDance does have the calendar so i can see my upcoming bills and projected deposits, it does not give a balance on each day. So both programs were disappointments to me. Does Quicken 2017 for mac give that calendar?
Several attempts to convert my existing Quicken for Windows file to a Quicken for MAC version, always resulted in account balance and transaction variances. I contacted Quicken, and they were supposed to get back to me via email, but did not. Last Friday, when still using my Quicken 2014 for Windows, it popped up a warning that I would no longer be able to update transactions via download after Sunday, April 30th. I have spent the better part of the weekend, as Quicken has no weekend support except for chat that kept timing out, and all day today going through my old Quicken for Windows file, making sure accounts were closed or deleted that were no longer in use, making sure everything was reconciled, and converting three different times, each with different results. Finally, after the third attempt, my key accounts were in proof, save for my several IRAs and one major savings account. Qm software for mac. The savings account was found to have imported three transactions with a zero amount that should have been debits, why I have no clue??
You can, however, continue to enter transactions manually, run reports, and export data just like you could in previous versions of Quicken. Since I'm not a Quicken user - what did the previous Quicken application give you?
Previously, Quicken for Mac help was online Live Chat only and notoriously poor. The fact that you can now speak to someone (based in the USA too) is long overdue and shows that Quicken has again listened to the deluge of complaints from Mac users about previous versions. The only drawback is there's no iPad version available. Banktivity and Moneywiz are also frequently mentioned as solid apps. Unfortunately, many of the personal finance apps now charge ongoing fees for online access, so it amounts to the same thing as an app subscription. I'm not certain, but I believe part of it may have to do with fees that financial institutions charge for online access. I have been using Moneydance for several years now. There is an iPhone / iPad version that works well, but it only works on bank accounts and credit card accounts.
Capital, updates to Quicken for Mac 2017 have been much faster.
