Now I was able to find some MB1700/1710 sets. Sold together they usually command around $2K for a nice example.
I like truck tools and have a lot of Mac stuff that I love, but it’s crazy to think they manufacture everything they sell. In some cases the trucks may offer a superior warranty that might even justify a higher price, but that isn’t always the case and a lot of times warranty all depends on your individual relationship with a driver. Tool trucks also offer payment plans and credit lines to make purchasing easier for professionals. If you’re considering a big tool purchase, it pays (literally) to head over to our forum, or any of the other reputable tool forums, and ask the guys who know tools better than anyone for some suggestions. You might just get a lot more tools for your money.

Take a look at a Craftsman adjustable the next time you’re in Sears and you’ll see this stamp: You’ll also see this same stamp on adjustable wrenches sold under the names SK, Proto, Martin, Williams, Ridgid, and others. That being said, there are some features exclusive to certain brands, such as Proto’s Clik-Stop feature. Screwdrivers Western Forge makes all 3 styles of Craftsman screwdrivers and has for years. As of 2008 they’d made over 1,000,000,000 of them. They also make the same drivers for Home Depot’s Husky line. On July 11, 1938, the firm was incorporated in Ohio, and common stock was issued. Mac Tools continued to grow in the 1940s, with a large government contract received in 1942. The company's name was changed in 1961 to the now familiar Mac Tools from its earlier name, Mechanics Tool and Forge Company. In 1980, Mac Tools was bought by the, and is now part of a group of brands including,,, and a subsidiary of Proto Tools.
Proto also came out last month and did a lunchtime hand tool safety seminar for us. Even bought us subs and pizza and didn’t once bash the competition like Snappy does. He even explained ANSI standards that tools carry to determine their quality and that Proto, Mac and Snap-On all all in the same league. Very informative and our boss was impressed since their safey training meets state OSHA requirements. All this service at no addional cost. As for researching tools, though Grainger they’ve been very helpful, often we submit the request in the morning and have an answer for us that afternoon. Since Grainger started supplying all our shop equipment and supplies, and because allowed to purchase on the dealerships account with their discount terms, it’s been a blessing for us.
Hhdmi cord for mac book pro 2012 models. I Currently have a Snap-on box. A limited edition anodized Red finish. It looks Awesome but i still question the quality.
As for cost of tools, they have to be seen as a lifetime investment. The average tech spends about $2000 a year on tools. Over a 30 year career that comes to $60,000. That means a weekly payment of about $38.50. Even with $4.00 a gallon gas, that is not much money to insure you can do your job quickly and get it right the first time. For techs, tools are money! As for the MAC dealer who can not afford to buy tools for his truck, this is likely because MAC did not prepare him for the job or insure he had enough capital to make it through the first few years.
It’s also overkill for a utility cart and yes, at $1,300.00 you can buy a decent tool box for that price. A utility cart is just that, something you buy to bang around. I bought one three years ago and use it dailyand it holds up quite well.

Final Thoughts We could go on for days showing all the items re-branded across the many product lines available to us, but the moral of this story is that it pays to shop around. Hopefully this article proves that guy at your shop who get’s pissed off at the mere suggestion that Snap-On, Matco, Mac, or any other brand, doesn’t make the best of everything, is a blow hard moron. My intention is not to knock the tool trucks.
However, with a few simple tips, you can turn this stressful process into an enjoyable experience. One of the biggest mistakes that people make when haggling with a car dealer is to approach the situation like a battle. Any skilled salesman knows that the only path to long-term success is to get on the same team as their customer. They don't wish to sell you something you don't want.

When something breaks, which is rare, I call them up and the very next day, UPS has my replacement delivered to my shop. And no, I didn’t even pay for the shipping nor do I have to wait a week to be told it’s on backorder. All I do is hold the brokes until either the Proto or Grainger guy arrives to collect them.
For example, our MB199UC mobile utility cart was created after years of observing how mechanics operate. The basic cart incorporates many innovative features, like a built-in power system, a durable top work surface, and slide-out top drawers, one of which is designed to hold a laptop or tablet. If it last a year that works for me. I consider them almost disposable. I don’t need a $1300 bohemouth to do the same job and have to worry about it getting dirty. If you need to move this much tools for a job, might as well get a smaller 7 or 8 drawer roll cab and still save a bundle. Only a mac guy will see the value in this.if he can sell it.
He has a nice enclosed trailer, with a low floor, so he was able to load it himself, on a dolly. Here are some pics from the auction, and how it looked when it arrived at my door. I fabricated my own radio plate out of an unused MAC drawer bottom. A few simple bends in a brake, and I was able to duplicate the original radio shelf.
When you don’t want to lug your entire toolbox out of the garage just to work on your neighbor’s lawnmower, you need something like the Macsimizer Utility Cart from MAC. It features a deep well up top for sockets and a tray up top that slides open for more tool access — plus three drawers, screwdriver storage, and space on the bottom for bigger items. I loaded up my cart with screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches, my most-used air tools, and some other miscellaneous stuff — which means that anytime I want to work on something outdoors, I just wheel out the cart and get after it. For pricing, you’ll need to visit your local MAC distributor. Or, if you don’t want to pay MAC prices, there are. I agree with you Bill, we got a new Mac man but already, he’s always got the “its on back order” or something about “they messed up my account and on credit hold” excuse and can’t get what we need. This is the same story we heard from the previous mac guys before they disappeared.
